AICTE approval delay to engineering colleges in the Karnataka...
Karnataka Examinations Authority (KEA) has postponed indefinitely the admission round for the engineering seat selection scheduled to begin on June 18 as the All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE) has not yet approved any engineering colleges in the State for the academic year 2010-2011.
AICTE has not taken any decision on continuing the recognition granted to engineering colleges, inclusion of new courses and increase in student intake. Also, it has recently sought additional information from the engineering colleges through a Web-based approval system introduced to eliminate corruption and, hence, the seat matrix has not been made available to the State government.
Admission rounds for architecture, casual vacancy round for NCC, sports and the disabled as well as casual vacancy round for medical and dental courses have also been postponed indefinitely. The KEA will inform candidates when the counselling process resumes after hearing from the AICTE. KEA has already informed students of the development through SMS.(The Hindu 18-06-2010)
