ANUSHKA Marriage Next Year »

Is it now wedding bells for the sexy yoga teacher turned heroine Anushka? Well, some reports say this. Anushka has now a couple of films in hand. But it is said that she is now ready to get the knot tied sometime next year.

Shriya Saran disappointed with the failure of Mission Istanbul »

Actress Shriya Saran’s Mission Istanbul has bombed at the box office, but she is happy with the way her career is shaping up.
From music videos to Tollywood to the Hindi film industry and now Hollywood, she has been climbing the ladder of success.
Back in the city for the shooting of a Tamil film Kandaswami, Shriya says, “Hyderabad is like home to me and it feels great to be here. I was at the Poison launch party and met up with all my old friends after such a long time.”

Disappointed with the failure of Mission Istanbul?

“When a film doesn’t do well, it is natural that you will feel bad. But the important thing is I have given it my 100 per cent and have worked very hard for the film,” she says.
When asked what she felt went wrong with the film, she replied, “It’s not right for me to comment on this. A film is a by-product of the energies and efforts of a lot of people. On hindsight, you can point out many mistakes, but you can never be sure about the fate of a movie from before it releases.”
Talking about her recent Tamil film, Shriya says that though it is a commercial movie, it has a poignant social message. “The film is about the economic disparity in the country — how the rich are getting richer while the poor are becoming poorer. Sushi Ganeshan is the director while Vikram is my co-actor. I had a good time doing the film. It’s a commercial film but at the same time deals with a topic that is so true of India.”

What is Twitter and How Does it Work?

Twitter is becoming the fastest growing social networking tool available. Find out exactly what it is and how to use it. Send a "tweet" in minutes.

How Twitter was Created

Twitter is an interesting concept that was created by Jack Dorsey and became an incorporated company in May of 2007. Since then, it has grown to be an Internet phenomenon, often featured on news channels on the web Chris Pirillo, CNN News, April 17, 2008]. It is also call microblogging. It works much the same way as a blog, only with the character limit. Once a Twitter is posted on the website, people are able to easily see what other people are doing. Individuals can, in turn, let others know what is going on with them as well.
The concept of Twitter relies on messaging services, whether it uses a cell phone, instant messager, such as Yahoo Messenger or MSN Messenger, or through specific websites. It allows the user to send messages to friends and family quickly and easily. Twitter only asks one question, “What are you doing?” As long as an answer is 140 characters or less, it is possible for thousands of people to see the answer immediately.

Using a Twitter Account

One must create an account, but it only takes minutes. It is free to join. Simply complete a profile, including uploading a picture. Link the newly created account to a cell phone, web page, or instant messenger program, which allows the user to receive and send messages to and from others. An update that is sent to friends is called a “tweet."

Twitter can be linked to other social networks, blogs, and websites. For instance, post a blog update and use the Twitter button. The blog entry will be sent to the people specified by the sender. This only works when logged into the Twitter account.
A user can also follow other users as well. It's easy to have conversations with other people, and before long, many people will be watching updates from many different people. Twitter is a really unique social media tool that helps individuals with:
  • Article marketing
  • Social networking
  • Promoting website traffic to specific websites
  • Staying in touch with people
The website is user-friendly and walks a new user through the entire setup process. There is also a frequently asked questions page to help those with questions about how to use Twitter for the first time or on different devices.

Twitter Advice

Don't overdo it with the updates. Keep them to a minimum to avoid annoying people. By sending too many messages in a day (or week or month), it runs the risk of individuals beginning to remove people from their list. Consider sending one message a day or setting up different groups, so as to target specific updates to those who are really interested in the messages sent. By setting up groups, personal messages will go to only those it is intended for as well.
Unfortunately, Twitter has also become very popular with Internet marketers that are realizing that most people will open a message from Twitter. There are many spammers that are using it to exploit their business. Twitter is working to correct this issue.
Twitter is a terrific tool for today's busy individual. The company is growing very quickly and expects to offer a way for people to access groups, much like Yahoo has now. This is in response to so many people asking for this type of service. Twitter is committed to providing a terrific social media for many years to come.

Samsung's Broadband HDTVs to Come With Skype

First announced at CES with Panasonic and LG TVs, Skype will now come embedded on Samsung's LED 7000 and 8000 series models of high-definition televisions. The embedded Skype software allows Skype users to make video and voice calls through the TVs.

Samsung, the global market leader in televisions, will begin shipping TVs with Skype software in the Korean market today, and worldwide in the first half of 2010.

“Our consumers want their televisions to be a ‘one-stop shop’ for entertainment and communication delivered with the highest quality,” said Kevin Kyungshik Lee, Vice President of Visual Display at Samsung Electronics. “Including Skype on our TVs meets that expectation perfectly. We’re thrilled that Samsung’s consumers can now use our TVs to experience the rich video and voice communication that hundreds of millions of Skype users worldwide enjoy.”

The debut of Samsung’s Skype-enabled televisions reinforces Skype’s commitment to making its video and voice calling capabilities available on a full range of Internet-connected devices, including TVs.

The Samsung LED 7000 and 8000 series televisions include Samsung’s free Internet@TV service, which allows access to select online content. Consumers who connect the TVs to the Internet can easily attach a FreeTalk TV Camera for Samsung provided by In Store Solutions (ISS), available at www.skype.com/store, making it possible to place and receive voice calls and High Quality Video calls. Voice calls will use Skype’s SILK audio codec, which enables super-wideband audio quality.

Using the TVs’ remote controls, consumers can create free Skype accounts, log into their existing accounts and navigate via a simple Skype interface accessible on thetelevisions’ screens. Skype video calls will be free, as will voice calls between Skype users.

BlackBerry Bold 9700

Super fast OS
Plenty of media support
Excellent audio quality
Good camera
Good Battery Life
No Maps for GPS
Still no Flash support for browser

BlackBerry has just launched their new Bold 9700, which is every bit as elegant as the original, the Bold 9000, with a few alterations to keep up with the times. Retaining RIM’s business like functionality the 9700 is also loaded with BlackBerry’s version 5.0 OS that promised to knock your socks off. If you’re considering switching over from whatever BlackBerry or other handset you’re using to the new Bold, here’s a closer look to help you decide.

Form Factor
It’s a BlackBerry so in the looks department nothing much has really changed. The essential design form is retained - Landscape display with a full QWERTY keypad, 3.5mm handsfree and Micro USB ports, Lock and Silent keys on top with Volume/Zoom and a voice command key on the side. A camera shutter release is also available but rather redundant. RIM has gone with an optical trackpad in the 9700 makingthe new Bold a little more versatile than its predecessor. The display resolution has also been upped to form a half VGA i.e. 480 x 320 pixel resolution to 480 x 360. It’s not much but it’s crystal clear and visually very comfortable even if the display size has been dropped to 2.44 inches.

The keypad is somehow not as comfortable as the 9000’s. The 9700’s will take a little longer to get used to. Unlike the original’s the numbers aren’t highlighted making it look a bit plain. The 9700, on the plus side is a little lighter and smaller than its big brother. It’s also a little sportier and on similar lines as the curve 8900. The Chrome finish is definitely better this time around and the elegant leather casing has given way to black plastic. However I can’t fathom why RIM thought it necessary to add the awkward leather finish to just the center of the removable rear panel. It doesn’t do much to improve the looks – it does just the opposite.

Nevertheless, the 9700 is a sleeker looking device and still manages to look as classy and professional as any of RIM’s other devices.

Features and Performance
Interface
It’s very difficult to find speed issues with BlackBerry’s OS but version 5.0 is something else and gives you the impression that it can run rings round the older versions. The 9700 is still using a 624MHz processor (same as the 9000), flash memory has been increased to 256MB but while the 9000 has 1GB of internal memory, the 9700 only comes with 256MB. Thankfully a 2GB microSD card is provided along with other goodies includingBlackBerry ’s leather Smart case and a very comfy handsfree kit. There’s hardly a substantial change in the UI’s layout so other than speed there’s nothing else worth talking about.

Media
Ever since the Bold 9000 ushered in the new range of cooler media rich BlackBerrys, the devices have been sought after for more than its business acumen. The 9700, though, has taken things up a notch. In the audio department, things are the same. Brilliant, clear tone quality makes for very comfortable listening. There’s a significant thump in the bass line and the EQ presets and Audio Boost options do nothing but enhance the overall audio experience. Unfortunately RIM has still not deemed it necessary to bestowBlackBerry users with an FM radio. The microphone has superb range for leaving voice memos.

A few more additions to the video codec support make the device’s video capabilities so much better. DivX and partial Xvid support ensures that drag and drop of files of almost all formats plays back smoothly. In fact a few files that didn’t play on the 9000 or Curve 8900 played seamlessly on the 9700.

Upcoming Mobiles to Look For

2010 kicked off with a lot of promise at CES and intensified at MWC. There’s quite a bit to look forward to this year in technology over all. But for the mobile maniacs out there, here are a few more handsets that we’re hoping to see real soon on our shores.

Nokia C5
Nokia’s ultra sleek C5 is a classy looking candy bar device that’s going to feature the latest upgrade to the S60 Symbian Operating System which is v9.3. The new UI is designed to cater to the social networking users with Facebook integration into the phone book contacts itself. Aside from the upgraded UI the handset’s slim design and large keypad will facilitate it as a seriously user friendly handset.

The C5 also features -
  • a 2.2-inch TFT display with a 240 × 320 pixel resolution
  • 3G (HSDPA), EDGE/GPRS
  • Bluetooth 2.0 with A2DP, USB 2.0 (Micro)
  • GPS with A-GPS support (Ovi Maps 3.0 preloaded)
  • 3 megapixel camera LED flash
  • 3.5mm earphone and handsfree socket (AV out)
  • Stereo FM radio
  • MicroSD card support

Samsung Corby Beat
The Corby range of devices is doing extremely well with newer models showing up all the time. The latest that’s been spotted is the Corby Beat which seems to be a union between Samsung’s music range ofhandsets and their budget social networking devices. The combination has quiet a lot of potential. If the originals were capable of good audio, thanks to the inclusion of Samsung’s DNSe audio functionality, they’re going to be so much better. The Corby Beat seems to have also taken the original S3650 design to a whole new level with what seems like an addition of a metallic trim.

Other features included with the Corby Beat are -
  • a 2.8-inch touchscreen display with a 240 × 320 pixel resolution
  • EDGE/GPRS, Wi-Fi
  • Bluetooth 2.1 with A2DP, USB 2.0
  • 2 megapixel camera
  • 3.5mm earphone and handsfree socket (AV out)
  • Stereo FM radio
  • MicroSD card support
Sony Ericsson Aspen
The Aspen is part of Sony Ericsson’s new GreenHeart range of handsets and with its QWERTY keypad it seems well designed for the eco-conscious social networker. Like the Naite, the Aspen is also loaded with a few social networking apps. The Aspen is also built from recycled material and also includes eco-friendly applications. It’s a Windows Mobile handset that’s using version 6.5 professional which also means it’s perfectly capable of working out very well for the business class user. The handset also incorporates what Sony Ericsson calls their ‘Human Curvature Design’ which is supposed to make their handsets comfortable to grip and use for long periods.

The Aspen will also be equipped with -
  • a 2.4-inch display with a 320 × 240 pixel resolution
  • 3G (HSDPA HSUPA), EDGE/GPRS, Wi-Fi
  • GPS with A-GPS support
  • Bluetooth 2.1 with A2DP, USB 2.0 (micro)
  • 3 megapixel camera
  • 3.5mm earphone and handsfree socket (AV out)
  • Stereo FM radio
  • MicroSD card support

Six Sigma Certification

There is a great pressure on improving performance at individual and organizational levels. Individuals are devoting substantial time, effort and money to acquire new competencies. Six Sigma Competencies – Green Belt, Black Belt and Master Black Belt – are in high demand.

Six Sigma Competencies helps an individual work more efficiently and deliver better and faster results. Six Sigma Certified Green Belts and Six Sigma Certified Black Belts can accelerate their carrier growth. Six Sigma certification is for individuals working in any organization, as better and faster results are appreciated in any organization, not only six sigma organizations. In six sigma field there is no certification for the organization, unlike other quality approaches, such as ISO-9000, COPC, CMMI and TS-16949. Six sigma certification is available for individuals based on their competencies and these certificates are like university degrees.

Furthermore, Six Sigma certification has also attracted the attention of business leaders since Six Sigma is more of a business initiative rather than a quality initiative. It has come to the point that Six Sigma certification is now discussed in business reviews routinely. None of the earlier quality initiatives enjoyed this kind of support from business leaders.

Another interesting aspect of Six Sigma certification is that it is universally applicable. Six Sigma certification is being coveted by industries such as manufacturing, services, software, call centers, BPO etc.

Individuals trained in ISO-9000:2000, SEI-CMMI, COPC, PMP etc can add Six Sigma certification for better carrier growth, as Six Sigma certification best fits into continuous improvement approaches, one of the requirement in all theses quality related approaches.

ISL have trained large number of Black Belts and Green Belts in traditional class room training.
