Some Andhra leader's not leaving even Telangana movement to Telangana people. "Andhra Pradesh Panchayat Raj Minister Botcha Satyanarayana said Hyderabad was part and parcel of Telangana. “Nobody can divide it from Telangana and demand that it be made into a Union Territory,” Mr. Satyanarayana said on Tuesday even as he stood by his campaign in support of division of Andhra Pradesh for all-round development of three regions. Mr. Satyanarayana maintained that the interventionists(Who???) had failed to give him any convincing answer on why the State should be united. During his interactions with a cross-section of the society from the Andhra and Rayala seema regions, no one could answer his query on inequitable development of regions. “Why should development center around Hyderabad and its neighboring areas only?”. Jalayagnam is priority: YSR

TIRUPATI: Chief Minister Y.S. Rajasekhara Reddy on Sunday asserted that his government’s first priority was Jalayagnam, the flagship programme of his government conceived to complete the various pending irrigation projects in the State so as to bring more area under plough.

In an informal chat with mediapersons shortly after his arrival here tonight, Dr. Reddy said Handri-Neeva and Galeru-Nagari irrigation projects would be completed as per the time-frame fixed.

Transparency

Dr. Reddy also said that he would give priority to increase transparency in the implementation of various welfare and social security schemes.

PRP Decide To Change its Symbol.

In the latest twist to its fight for a common symbol, the Praja Rajyam has reportedly come to an understanding with the Sikkim Democratic Front (SDF). Sources said the Praja Rajyam will tie up with the SDF of Mr Pawan Kumar Chamling, the Sikkim Chief Minister. The SDF is a recognised state party in Sikkim, and has the umbrella as its symbol. Under the deal, Mr Chamling will authorise the PR president Chiranjeevi to issue ‘B’ forms for his candidates in the name of SDF. Since SDF is a recognised state party (in Sikkim), PR candidates will get preference for a “common free symbol” in AP. They can ask, and will probably get, a common symbol here. Mr P. Shiv Shankar, a former Governor of Sikkim and former Union law minister, is reported to have helped Chiranjeevi strike the deal with Mr Chamling, as did a former Election ommissioner. In light of this, the Praja Rajyam withdrew its petition in the AP High Court asking for a “common free symbol.” The court permitted the PR to withdraw. Just before this, the High Court admitted a lunch motion filed by the so-called Ajeya Bharat Party seeking the rail engine symbol. It claimed it had contested the 1994 and 1999 Lok Sabha elections and secured more than five per cent votes to qualify for the symbol. This sparked speculation that the PR could tie up with this party.(source: Deccan)

Congress back to power in AP - N TV Report

The ruling Congress will return to power with 155-169 Assembly seats, according to a survey released on Sunday. This places the party comfortably above the half-way mark of 148 seats in the Assembly. The Telugu Desam-led Mahakutami will get between 92-110 seats. The Praja Rajyam of Chiranjeevi would get 30-35 seats and others would mop up 7-9 seats, according to the survey conducted by the news channel NTV in association with Nielsen ORC Marg Ltd. The survey, conducted in February, covered 88,146 respondents at about 300 voters from each constituency. In the Lok Sabha elections, the Congress will get 23-27 seats out of 42 in the state, according to the survey. The Mahakutami will 14-16 seats and the Praja Rajyam, 1-2 seats. Regionwise, according to the survey, the Congress will win between 37 and 45 seats out of the total 119 in Telangana and 77-88 seats in coastal Andhra which has 124 seats. Out of the 51 seats in Rayalaseema, the Congress will get 35-41, the survey predicted. The Mahakutami will bag 52-70 seats in Telangana because of its pro-statehood stance, 20-24 seats in Andhra and 13-15 seats in Rayalaseema, the survey reported. The Praja Rajyam suffered a vote erosion from the earlier poll by the same agencies. It will get 4-6 seats in Telangana and 2-3 seats in Rayalaseema. Its best showing will be in coastal Andhra at 21-28 seats, the survey said.
