EPASS scholarships and Fee reimbursement, New changes proposed for this year

EBC scholarships and EBC fee reimbursements under scanner...
Eligibility criteria for granting scholarships and fee reimbursement to students belonging to weaker sections is proposed to be changed as the government does not want the benefit to high earning families. Scholarships and fee reimbursement will not be granted to students whose annual parental income is above Rs. 1 lakh. For renewal of these benefits, there may be an insistence on 75% class attendance. Cabinet sub-committee held a meeting with representatives of the engineering and professional colleges. Final view on the criteria would be taken after an open debate being organized by the committee on June 22 at Jubilee Hall with representatives of managements and leaders of the students' unions. The Cabinet sub-committee would submit its report in 10 days to enable the government to propose new guidelines for the new academic year.
