New symbol, new Hopes...
Praja Rajyam will fight the GHMC elections with new symbol, the Rising Sun. The EC allocated the symbol to the PRP officially on Friday. Though the DMK had reportedly objected to allocation of the Rising Sun to the PRP, the Election Commission decided to accept the PR’s proposal since both the regional parties belonged to different states. The PRP, which contested the elections unsuccessfully with its “unlucky rail engine” symbol, did not want to retain it as a permanent one. The party got the opportunity to select its own symbol as it polled 17 per cent of the votes in the general elections. The party has decided to organise more agitations against the steep hike in prices of essential commodities.
